ECG Test - what is it and how the test is done

The heart is a powerful muscular organ that never stops working. It goes on and on, pumping blood throughout the day and night, and makes sure to always keep your body organs oxygenated and richly supplied with blood at all times. If there were to be any issue with the heart or any of its functioning anatomy, your body could be put under great stress immediately. A person could go through physical pain due a heart issues and the problem does not resolve as easily as it may appear. Therefore, it is recommended for people - those who have a family history of heart diseases, those who have developed heart disease risk factors that predispose them to develop this disease, and people with other comorbid conditions, to get their cardiovascular tests done regularly to avoid the development of any such disease. Cardiac Screening is the recommended protocol that people with heart conditions or their apparent risk factors are supposed to follow to get a clear picture of their heart and its functioning. These tests may include: Electrocardiography (ECG or EKG) Exercise Cardiac Stress Test (Exercise Electrocardiogram) Echocardiography Cardiac CT for Calcium Scoring Coronary CT Angiography All these tests work to evaluate the working of the heart, its valves, its arteries, and the overall functioning of this organ to ensure that it is working just as perfectly as it is supposed to at all times.
