PSA Test - what is it and how the test is done
The prostate gland is a crucial gland present in all males. This gland performs essential sexual functions in a male. However, with age, it tends to develop several problems that lead to a person facing difficulties while voiding urine.

Usually, a digital rectal examination (DRE) is performed by a doctor in the clinic to evaluate the size, consistency, and shape of the prostate gland to see if it is normal or not. But apart from that, the prostate is also tested for Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) levels in the blood using a blood sample. Increased levels of this antigen indicate both the presence of benign hyperplasia and cancer of the prostate.
